Lessons Learned In Life: Nice one

Date a guy who reads. Ever seen a guy spend alot of bucks at a bookstore. Bookmark him. He is probably the kind of guy you’d like to marry.

Find a guy who loves to read, and I can show you a philosopher, a romantic and a brave-heart. You’ll know him the moment you see him, by the detached look on his face, as if he does not connect with the world except the one that exists in his books. If his eyes light up on seeing a Orhan Pamuk or a Ernest Hemingway, He is the guy.

Ssshhhh !! Just heard a wolf whistle? That’s probably when the guy has found a rare book that he has been searching for days together. Can’t you see that the pages of the book that he carries around are still looking crisp and fresh? He can’t bear to see them soiled. He handles them so carefully, lest they get hurt. It hurts him to see a book without its cover or dog-eared pages and quickly sets about repairing them.

He’s the guy who is having the silently funny conversation with the librarian in the archives. And for a change the librarian is actually talking to him and she is even smiling at him now. Makes you wonder what sort of a charm does he cast. Ask him if he is interested in visiting a used-books stall after the library and he will be taken in.

He is the guy who when sitting in a bus, does not mind the jittery ride and continues to read the book, oblivious to all those beautiful girls around him. He does mind you stepping on his toes as long as you don’t let him take his eyes off his book. No! Don’t disturb him now. You are most likely to get an angry glare. Perhaps you might even be ignored.

Don’t pretend in front of him. He can see through you if you are saying things just to sound intelligent. Buy him a cup of coffee and make him talk on the books he loves. You can listen to his eloquent words for hours together. Don’t be scared if you get lost in Middle Earth. He will guide you through. Faust confuses you? He will explain the metaphor to you. He is the guy who does not realize that his tea has become cold and formed layers once he gets his hand on a book. Offer to buy him a book and he will follow you to the end of the world.

Get him books for his birthday, for New Year and Valentine’s Day as well. He is not going to complain. And of course, don’t forget to get the books listed on his wish list for Christmas. The man lives in his own world. No fault of his if he wants his life to resemble his favorite book. It’s probably the only thing he understands.

Disappoint him. Because a man who reads knows that the ointment for disappointment is books. You need not always be there for him. Gift him a book and he will feel your presence. Don’t be something that you are not, to him. He knows that people are like characters. It takes them time to grow. If you find a man who reads, keep him away from society. He is a prized catch.

If you find him depressed for days together, ask him the title of the book that he read. Understand what the story meant to him and hold him. Yes!! Hold him. He needs it very badly. He may not cry, but his hug will speak a thousand words, and his smile will make your day. Prod him and he will talk. He will speak on how he felt as if he was inside the book, and how the decision of the protagonists changed his view on things.

Propose to him – with a bookmark. He will understand. In case he doesn’t, send him a couple of books with a telegram. And when even that doesn’t give him the clue, Write a book and ask him to proofread.

Don’t be surprised if he names your kids with strange names. That was bound to happen. He will show your children the philosophy of being altruistic. He will show the kids how it feels to stop by woods on a snowy evening. And perhaps someday he will show his kids that there is a greater heaven. Who knows, someday you might just be reciting “Lochinvar” under your breath as you walk with him to the supermarket.

Date a guy who reads because you deserve it. He can make your life colorful and yet make you feel grounded. Don’t tempt him with vices of the material world, they mean nothing to him. Show him the way to the world of books and he will show you the way to his heart.

why this hit di?

I was wondering what made a simple Tamglish song "why this kollaveri di?" an overnight block buster. 1.4 crore hits in youtube within a span of 2 weeks, amazing. So i wanted to do an analysis on this song, following may be the reasons

1. Simple Lyrics
2. Boy criticizing the girl (Both boys and girls like it)
3. Catchy Tune
4. Expressions and Singing style of Dhanush
5.Facebook.

Even though all the 4 factors are in the hands of the "3" team, but factor #5 new mode of marketing played a crucial role in taking the song to the people esp. youth.(Referring to the Mindset, not age :-) ).

This new form of marketing is called "Viral" Marketing as termed by IIM's. Refer this article IIM: Viral Marketing. This form involves taking a so called  "product" to the hearts of people and rely on them to spread the word, and now a days spreading a word is a lot easier : WTF (Web, Twitter and Facebook).

Then starts the Comic versions, Remix Versions, Fake Versions (Title will he "kollaveri di", video will be something else)  which make people force to like the song no matter what.

I am not sure whether the "3" team is aware of this style/ it worked out that way but this opened a new channel in the marketing and may be if zuckenberg observed this, he may start charging for "sharing" things as well :-).

Herd Psychology: Part-I: Aur kisi ko chahiye, Impreson ?

Ever observed a person’s attitude in group vs. when he is alone?

There will be a difference in attitude, for some especially the difference is wider. The presence of a group controls the behavior of oneself.Have you ever wondered, why?

Lets discuss the factors one by one: Impreson

Beyond all the needs, the most basic need of a human brain is “to get everyone impressed by me”. Impreson is the electricity for our “silica”, even the most smallest action is done in the anticipation of an comment which can create an impreson. Every individual has his/her own way of creating an impreson.

Some people crack jokes always, some will ask questions even when its not necessary, some people argue, some people struggle give the latest news first,

For Eg: Last week i went to a photo shoot in my company , there the entire team of around 100 members was assembled to have the annual photo shoot. Once the team gathered people started cracking jokes, teasing others, commenting/joking loudly...all this in attempt to create an impreson.

Some people are always up-to-date with the latest happenings that they spend significant amount of time of their life updating themselves no because they are in need of that knowledge but want to be the first to convey the news to their friends and there by gaining an impreson.

Next the question comes, why do we want to impress? What reaction will the impreson cause?

For BioPsychic Details refer this link.

As per some studies:

"We found that these seemingly different kinds of rewards, a good reputation versus money, are biologically coded by the same neural structure, the striatum," says Dr Norihiro Sadato of Japan's National Institute for Physiological Sciences in Okazaki.
"This provides the biological basis of our everyday experience that personal reputation is felt as rewards," Sadato says

“By means of praising each other, our business groups as well as our workers, schoolchildren, relation among families of schoolchildren and teachers becomes active in all areas.Neuroscience is learning how important it is to communicate and praise each other. Communication and praising others will create smiles. It is the secret to rejuvenation and stop aging.”

Conveying people that we are really impressed by their actions, will make people do anything.
Succesful Impreson needs more impreson's coming on the way.

Last week, when i had to work a saturday i was furious and working in anger, but when my manager praised for my work i was so happy that he got impressed by my actions, when asked can you work on sunday as well, i happily said yes!! True :-)

So guys, praise everyone but keep in mind that too much of anything including "praise" loose its value. Praise selectively and with in the context.

Nature, Friends, Strangers, monsoons and Rain all the way

Couple of months ago we went for a bike and hiking trip to kemmangundi in the chikmagalur district of karnataka, nearly 50kms from chikmagalur town with 15 kms of ghat road.We went on 4 bikes from bangalore, 2 bikes with pillions and 2 bikes with luggage tied to it.On the way shyam withdrawed cash from the ATM, he was only one carrying cash and we all were just going along.

We reached kemmangundi in the dark and it was raining heavily we had near skid and fall driving on the crazy mud and ghat roads. All dark clouds came out of nowhere and were lashing rain, it was really tough to drive uphill in that narrow muddy roads. Our worst fear was once of our friend shiva was driving a "passion" in both feeling and bike make, we had 2 apache's so we were better.

Once up we realized that one bike was missing which we thought was ahead of us, so we didnt care to check them at the back. It was shyam and narendrans bike which they took all the way to chikmagalur, due to some miscommunications. Now no way they can return to kemmangundi as its dark and road is not good, after some hot debates and blame game we decided that they will spend the night in chikmagalur and we will spend night in kemmangundi and catchup next day morning.

But you know what is the funny thing we had no cash, we just had 200 change and we need to get a hotel, food and some stuff and spend the entire night there. Here we were left in a remote village with hardly single digit homes and no cash, ATM r u kidding? so, this article is about how we survived that day.

First we enquired about the food near a shop, always food first :-) they told it will close in an hour. Now we had to find a room and eat the food within an hour else stay hungy. Finally, after some enquiring and searching We found some rooms at the top@600/per room, the hotel guy was man named "puttappa avare", we took him aside, myself and mani explained the situation to him and convinced him that our friends down will be back tomorrow morning and then we can pay him the money.I am not quite sure what made him listen to us may be "kannada" or visible survival insticts and fear.We were ready to promise anything and everything. This made my long held belief even more concrete, i always think "if its a human, we can convince him in any matter and in any way [sama, dana, bedha and danda==Chanakya]".
Decent Room 600 bucks

What a view and rain

Now as room is set, we need to find food. Again our very own "puttappa avare" came to the rescue, we went to the food shop ordered all we want including some soft drinks, and told that "puttappa avare" will take care of the bill. They called him and he assured them with so much confidence that even we were
shocked. So that night we had good food, warm sleep.

Now that we had survived the night, then we chaged the mode from "anyhing and everything" to "lets think abt it". Instead of our guys coming all the way up and gng down immediately [shyam was having a back pain, so we thought it didn't worth all the effort up the hill], they will get cash and meet at an intermediate point.Mani found a co-tamil guy called jagan anna, and spoke to him regarding the issue. He suggested us to meet at some village down the hill, and asked us to deliver the cash to his uncle there, once he recieves the cash jagan will deliver the cash to "puttappa avare" who in turn have to give the cash to shops locally.Again out of blue "puttappa avare" agreed to this plan, man he trusts too much.

So, next morning after having a stomachful breakfast at ganesha locally(it was ganesh chaturthi) which is tamarind rice with sundal/senagalu myself and prasad went to Z-point, lazy shiva and mani stayed down. After that we started down and met our guys and delivered the cash to the jagans uncle and all process worked well.
Eating tamarind rice with sundal courtesy ganhes
Top of Z-Point
Reunion and cheers

Our Missing bike and guys

Our Transporters

But can you imagine this in 21st century, such a trust where we even doubt if a person is too good to us, why is he so good to us? Good to see Men like "puttappa avare" and jagan are till there and they did this without any expectation.Once i couldnt even convince the bus conductor that i have 1 rupee short of the ticket, i had to get down the bus walk to next stop and boarded another bus.

It was really a fantastic experience.

Seen Someone After A Long Time!!!???

A Good Post Lifted from wordsofribbon, Thanks bro.

================================

Seeing Someone After A Long Time

Sometimes you see a person that you have not seen in years or are longing to meet the person eagerly and the greeting or reaction is poor. You may have shared intense, happy, sad, fighting or restless moments together. That person may be the most valuable person to you, you may love him a lot .However, when people move on or move away, they change. They put their energy into so many other things. They probably forgot that you exist. For anyone to be successful, they have to continuously progress.

We get hurt sometimes but we have to get over it. Sometimes, some time away may be able to garner you more respect from others. It makes no sense to waste time wondering about people's reactions anyway. We need to focus on improving ourselves and our interactions with others. We will only get respect when we give respect.

Also, sometimes we think that people are cold but they may just be preoccupied. Who really has the time to wonder what everyone is thinking. We have so many challenges facing today that we need to stay centered.

Zindagi na milegi dobara Javed Akhtar shayari (poems) lyrics:

Zindagi na milegi dobara Javed Akhtar shayari (poems) lyrics:

Poem 1
Pighle neelam sa behta ye sama,
neeli neeli si khamoshiyan,
na kahin hai zameen na kahin aasmaan,
sarsaraati hui tehniyaan pattiyaan,
keh raheen hai bas ek tum ho yahan,
bas main hoon,
meri saansein hain aur meri dhadkanein,
aisi gehraiyaan, aisi tanhaiyaan,
aur main… sirf main.
Apne hone par mujhko yakeen aa gaya.

Poem 2
Ik baat honton tak hai jo aayi nahin
Bas ankhon say hai jhaankti
Tumse kabhi, mujhse kabhi
Kuch lafz hain woh maangti
Jinko pehanke honton tak aa jaaye woh
Aawaaz ki baahon mein baahein daalke ithlaye woh
Lekin jo yeh ik baat hai
Ahsas hi ahsas hai

Khushboo si hai jaise hawa mein tairti
Khushboo jo be-aawaaz hai
Jiska pata tumko bhi hai
Jiski khabar mujhko bhi hai
Duniya se bhi chupta nahin
Yeh jaane kaisa raaz hai

Poem 3
Jab jab dard ka baadal chaya
Jab ghum ka saya lehraya
Jab aansoo palkon tak aya
Jab yeh tanha dil ghabraya

Humne dil ko yeh samjhaya
Dil aakhir tu kyun rota hai
Duniya mein yunhi hota hai

Yeh jo gehre sannate hain
Waqt ne sabko hi baante hain
Thoda ghum hai sabka qissa
Thodi dhoop hai sabka hissa
Aankh teri bekaar hi nam hai
Har pal ek naya mausam hai
Kyun tu aise pal khota hai
Dil aakhir tu kyun rota hai

Poem 4
Dilon me tum apni betabiyan leke chal rahe ho,to zinda ho tum
Nazar me khwaabon ki bijliyan leke chal rahe ho,to zinda ho tum
Hwa ke jhokon ke jaise aazad rehno sekho
Tum ek dariya ke jaise lehron mein behna sekho
Hr ek lamhe se tum milo khole apni baahein
Hr ek pal ek nya sama dekhe nigahein
Jo apni ankhon mein hairanian leke chal rahe ho,to zinda ho tum
Dilon mein tum apni betabian leke chal rahe ho,to zinda ho tum
